The State of California’s Bureau has recognized Nithyananda Hindu University (NHU) for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) as a religious university. As part of its newly instituted bi-annual review of licenses to religious universities, the BPPE reviewed the functioning of the NHU.
In a letter dated April 18, 2019, the BPPE recognizes that NHU adheres to the California Education Code (CEC), Section 94874(e) and is an “Institution owned, controlled and operated and maintained by a religious organization lawfully operated as a non-profit organization”.
